Canopy Sound is a one-man recording studio run by Whitney Ota and is located in Calgary, Alberta. Whitney spent a number of years in Vancouver, BC where he studied recording engineering at the Art Institute of Vancouver. Moving back home to Calgary in 2008, Whitney has worked on a number of recording projects from both provinces, most recently the full length album that he recorded and is now mixing for Family Studies.

Current Projects
Natural
Natural is comprised of Carter Gilchrist, Whitney Ota, Paul Levesque and Matthew Read, and they never play the same song twice. They have just released Ghost Town Super Town and will be releasing a 10 CD mega Box Set by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more information.
Country & Western
Country & Western are an experimental group comprised of Carter and Whitney. Their songs are completely improvised and recall the likes of musical destroyers such as: Sun Ra, Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Suicide, This Heat, Cluster, CAN, DNA, Dead C and others. These recordings would sit well with records by No Neck Blues Band, Tower Recordings, Charlambides, and others. Each note is carelessly placed and means nothing.
